Welcome back to the 2019-2020 school year and a special welcome to our new students and families. We look forward to seeing everyone on August 26th. Everyone is busy readying for what I am confident will be another great year at West Burlington Independent Schools.
As August is upon us, the sights and sounds of another school year become more and more present. From school supplies at every turn to the halls bustling with staff busily preparing for the arrival of students. And many places in between there is the sense of anticipation wrapped tightly with excitement and likely too, a little apprehension. Every year as I experience this it feels almost like Christmas to me. I so enjoy it.
Recently I was reminded of a Dr. Seuss quote,” Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” For some of us as parents, August 26th is the day we will send our first child to school while for others it is the last first day of school we will ever have. I think especially of you at this time. For each of us it is emotional at different levels. For life to happen we must make transitions both as beginnings and endings. To you and to all, try to savor the moments both good and bad for they make us who we are. Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened and savor it while it happens. Click Here to
West Burlington is a great school and great community. It takes only moments to figure this out. As the new superintendent this summer, this year is a time of endings and beginnings for myself and my family. I am savoring all of it. I am excited to be here and I look forward to meeting and working with everyone. Please feel free to stop in and introduce yourself.
