Activities Improvement Committee
The AIC is in the process of preparing and fundraising for a three phase project that will benefit numerous programs within our school and community. The committee feels that this project will put our already first class facilities over the top and make our school one that the community will be proud of.
- The "Green" phase consists of installing an all-weather track surface and equipping the facility as necessary for hosting track meets.
- The "White" phase involves the multi-purpose addition onto the high school. The school district is covering the cost of construction but the committee will fundraise for the furnishings.
- The "Black" phase is the renovation of the football field playing surface.
More details about the entire project are available inside of the project brochure here.
** NEW ** - Become a member of the 400 Meter Club. The committee knows there are many individuals and families that would like to contribute to the project but may struggle with the ability to do so. Therefore we have come up with a plan that we feel is do-able for the average person. You may now "purchase" a meter of the new track for $200 and be recognized on a plaque at the main entrance to the facility. For more information please contact the committee at the email adress below.
Anyone interested in contributing to the project either moneterily or by volunteering may contact the committee at Activities.Improvement@wbschools.us. Donations may be mailed to the West Burlington Administration office at:

* Project Updates:*
Currently, the committee has been working on preparing the existing surface for the 1/2" rubber layer that makes up the all-weather track. Concrete work around the perimeter was completed recently and now the committee will finish installing the black fence to enclose the track and field. As soon as the weather permits, repair work will begin on the inside edge of the existing asphalt surface as well as the installation of the high jump and long jump areas. If the fund raising efforts go well over the next couple months the rubber surface will be able to be installed in the spring. The track teams are very excited at the possibility of being able to run on the new surface before the end of the season.
In addition, the district is finalizing plans with engineers for the multi-purpose addition and will be taking bids in the near future. Construction will hopefully begin in the early spring enabling the facility to be ready for use in time for the 2012-13 school year.
