Second graders work on basic addition and subtraction facts and strategies for learning them-doubles, doubles +1, Fast 9's, Fast 10's. We have a computer program called MATH IN A FLASH that is used for review and testing.  Timed tests are also given over facts to 18. 

AM (Accelerated Math) is another resource we will be using.  This is a leveled program that will allow students to work at their own pace.

Telling time and counting money units are later in the school year.  Working on these at home is appreciated. Counting on money starting with quarters and working on making change give alot of the students trouble.

Second semester we learn how to add and subtract using 2 and 3 digit numbers with/without renaming.  Knowing basic facts really speeds this up.
