Learning Activity: In-class writing activity--Dictated writing. Students are to write an essay describing the significance of the Scarlet Ibis in an interpretation of the story.Read 358-361 "The Grandfather." Answer thinking critically #7 in a complete, unified paragraph.

Assessment: Class discussion, completion of class essay
